Frequently Asked Questions
What is TED?
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxĐaKao, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxĐaKao event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
What are the differences between TED and TEDx?
TED events are events that are organized directly by TED Conferences LLC, New York, United States. TEDx events are events organized by the local community under license and guideline, but not organized, by TED Conferences LLC.
Are all TEDx events organized by the same team?
No. TEDx events are organized independently from each other with different license holders and organizing teams.
